I live in Cheshire with my husband and son, we have 10 Irish Setters – all connected to my breeding, they are all shown with the exception of one old lady.
I obtained my first Irish from the Wendover Kennel in 1969. I started my affix in 1971 and soon realised that I wanted to know more about the breed in general.
To do this I went on various training and teaching seminars, the first in the ‘70’s held over 1 year. This was a course aligned to the Open University when we had speakers like the legendary Bobby James, Catherine Sutton and Joe Braddon
I am a Championship Show Judge and have judged in America and Europe as well as Championships shows in the U.K. I award C C’s in both Irish Setters and Irish Red & White Setters and judge all the gundog breeds and B.I.S at Open Show Level.
I was responsible for the first Irish Setter Seminar run by the Midlands Irish Setter Club.
As a member of the Kennel Club Assured Breeder scheme, all my dogs are clear of the following:
- PRA (rcd) – Progressive Retinal Atrophy
- CLAD – Canine Leucocyte Adhesion Deficiency
- PRFA (rcd4) – Rod Cone Dysplasia Type 4
These are all Hereditary Clear using DNA testing and all dogs are hip scored.
